To celebrate Children’s Day, Change-A-Life team put together a special program during which the Foundation’s most outstanding scholarship beneficiaries and their guardians where rewarded.

Speaking about the objective of the program, Executive Director, Mrs. Bridget Oyefeso-Odusami said: We want to show the children that Nigeria is a society where hard work and merit are still rewarded.

The event commenced with a motivational speech titled; get ready for the future from fast rising R&B singer; Lami and then a book (Tenka and his magic drum) reading session by the founder of Change-A-Life; Funmi Iyanda. Outstanding beneficiaries – Nkamere Precious, Opaleye Toluwani, Ebuka Uba, Umoh Uwana and Ngozi Ogudu received awards and prizes for their academic achievements for the year with a minimum of between 10As to 14As out of 12 to 16 subjects while Waliu Folurunsho Olatunji was the most improved beneficiary. Other giveaways were made available to the beneficiaries through the generous donations of MTN Nigeria (thanks to Jacob Somoye) and the Dangote Group who donated some of its products (thanks to Mrs Folake Animumuney). After the presentation of awards and gifts to outstanding beneficiaries, all beneficiaries were treated to a movie titled; How to train your dragon with Funmi Iyanda at the Silverbird Cinemas courtesy of Silverbird Cinemas (thanks to Jide Asumah and Jonathan Bruce)

Change-A-Life Foundation was founded in 2002 by award winning journalist and television producer Funmi Iyanda to intervene in the lives of deserving people when they need it the most.

Over the years, the Foundation has been changing the lives of children and people through its scholarship, healthcare, counseling and micro-finance intervention scheme. Change-A-Life’s scholarship scheme currently supports 98 children.

Commenting after the days’ celebration, the founder of Change-A-Life, Funmi Iyanda said: I’m glad I could spend today with my wonderful children and more glad to see that they all had great fun. I believe every community should have a basic cinema, library and sports centre to engage all children regardless of background.
