In keeping with its mission to intervene in the lives of deserving people in need, the Change-A-Life Foundation on January 30, 2010, formally presented scholarships to over sixty indigent children who are wards of single parents or orphaned. The award presentation took place at the offices of Change-A-Life located at 3 Okunola Aina Street, Mende. Maryland, Lagos.

Amongst the scholarship recipients are Qudus Olojede and Samuel Urja-Uti, sons of the deceased Ibrahim Olojede and Friday Uti who were both shot on October 1st 2009 by the Nigerian police. Also five teachers from the Whanyinna Nursery and Primary, Makoko are being given scholarship to attend a teaching college.

Speaking before the event, Change-A-Life's Executive Director Mrs. Bridget Oyefeso-Odusami commented "We are extremely pleased that, with the support of various organisations, Change-A-Life has been able to take on more scholarship recipients. These children and many more out there deserve the chance to have an education and make something out of their lives."

For the beneficiaries and their proud parent and guardians, Change-A-Life's intervention has been a dream come true, as they have been unable to meet up with tuition payments. The Change-A-Life education scholarship is awarded to brilliant and hardworking indigent children who are able to keep up their good grades in school. The organisation's aim is to ultimately enable beneficiaries to be self-sufficient as well as challenge them to in turn stretch out a hand to support a fellow human being.

Change-A-Life's mission is to act as a bridge between people with potential, yet great need and the people, agencies and organizations that have the capacity to help and are willing to help these people. The scheme which is solely not for profit was founded by Funmi Iyanda in 2002.

"We want to call on all Nigerians to get involved by volunteering their time and resources. Here at Change-A-Life, we believe that it only takes one person to change a life," said Mrs. Bridget Oyefeso-Odusami.

"Life is becoming more challenging to numerous people around us. This year, more than ever, we are determined to continue to touch and affect more people and communities in a positive manner-one life at a time as is our tradition at Change-A-Life." she added.

Over the years Change-A-Life has affected the lives of many children and people through its scholarship, healthcare, counselling and micro-finance intervention scheme. The scholarship scheme currently supports 98 children.
